Charlotte Betts is a multi-award-winning author of carefully researched historical novels with a dash of adventure and romance.
A daydreamer and a bookworm, Charlotte has enjoyed careers in fashion, interior design and property. She is currently working on the Spindrift Trilogy, set in a Cornish artists’ community at the turn of the nineteenth century, part two of which, The Light Within Us, published in March 2020.
A member of The Society of Authors, The Historical Novels Society and The Romantic Novelists’ Association, Charlotte has given talks and workshops at conferences and to smaller groups.
Charlotte lives on the Hampshire/Berkshire borders in a C17th cottage in the woods with her husband and Hattie, a border collie.

The Apothecary’s Daughter (Piatkus 2011) won the YouWriteOn Adult Book of the Year Award 2010, the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Joan Hessayon Award 2011 and the RoNA’s Historical Category award for 2013. The sequel, The Painter’s Apprentice (2012) was shortlisted for the Festival of Romance’s Best Historical Read Award. The Spice Merchant’s Wife (2013) won the Festival of Romance’s Best Historical Read Award. The Chateau on the Lake was published in 2014 and The House in Quill Court in 2016. The Dressmaker’s Secret followed in May 2017. The Palace of Lost Dreams was shortlisted for the RoNA’s in 2019.
Vivaldi and Violets was published in the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Fiftieth Anniversary Anthology, Loves Me, Loves Me Not in 2009.
