Pam Pheasant

As a founder member of WordWatchers, Pam was encouraged by the group to write her first novel, Angel Hill. Angel Hill is a typically peaceful Berkshire Village inhabited mainly by commuters and retired people with a sprinkling of eccentric characters. The story relates what happens to this unexceptional village community when a child disappears and the village suddenly becomes the focus of media attention.

Four further novels have followed:

The House at Bridgend

Getting A Life

Auntie Pru's Legacy
(Available from Amazon)

She has written numerous short stories, including "A Night To Remember", which was runner up in the 2003 Woman and Home Short Story Competition.

Pam has written one non-fiction book, The Grotto House, which was published in September 2003 and is available from Amazon.

Pam's life revolves round her family, her job and ten, -yes, ten-, dogs.

My first writing project, the history of an Eighteenth Century mansion on The Thames, ‘The Grotto House’, was published in 2003. This was the outcome of two years of research that uncovered a lot of surprises, including the true identity of the resident ghost. Writing this ignited a spark that has driven me to continue writing, although I now prefer to write fiction.

After completing ‘The Grotto House’, I joined a creative writing class and then became one of the founding members of WordWatchers. My fiction tends to be character driven and I have a particular interest in family relationships and influences. One of my short stories was a runner up in a Woman & Home Short Story competition and another was published in the WordWatchers anthology, ‘Out of Time’. I’m now excited to be publishing my first novel, Angel Hill, through Joss Korvus.

Many years ago I bought a three-year-old mare off the boat from Ireland and survived riding her on the busy roads and commons of South East London. I’ve written a memoir about my relationship with horses from Dobbin my wooden horse on wheels to Dolly my beautiful Irish mare, her three foals and various companions.

As well as writing, I enjoy painting, jewellery making and collecting brass lady bells. More about me, including the first chapters of my memoir, are on my website www.pamelapheasant.com.
